Veterans Summit
On Thursday, November 17, 2016, the Foundation co-hosted a Veterans Summit with Altria and the Virginia Bar Association. The Summit was a convergence of statewide veteran legal and service providers. Approximately 25 attendees, representing 22 organizations participated in the Summit, which aimed to discuss ways to encourage synergy, cross promote services and identify service gaps. We we delighted to welcome Commissioner John L. Newby, II, Virginia Department of Veterans Services, as keynote speaker for this event.
The Veterans Initiative Task Force is currently working on compiling the information gathered at the Summit to create a resource guide for all participants. Based on the feedback from participants, we are discussing the possibility of a follow up Summit in the spring.
